These are the preferred Raspberry Pi's for the Amatuer Radio HotSpots. The last two Raspberry Pis on this Guide page are the ones that are compatible with the C4LABS cases shown in the previous guide page. First we need an SD Ultra Micro Card.

Getting A Micro SD Card

 SanDisk Micro SD Card

This is the most important part, the Micro SD Card. If you cheap out here, everything about your Hotspot could begin to have problems right at the start, or, just a few months afterwards as it has been written to a few hundred times. AND, you'll think the problems are coming from the other parts.

Raspberry Pi Zero With Header And WIFI

Raspberry Pi Zero With Header and WIFI

This is the most basic Raspberry Pi for the Amateur Radio HotSpot, the small one, rectangular boxed one. This SBC is not usable with the C4Labs cases. I present this SBC for completeness.

Raspberry Pi 3B

 Raspberry Pi 3B

This is Raspberry Pi that is most used with the older MMDVM boards, especially the older Single Hat boards.

Raspberry Pi 3B+

 Raspberry Pi 3B+

This is Raspberry Pi that is most used with the later MMDVM boards, including the Daul Hat boards.

Raspberry Pi 4B

 Raspberry Pi 4B

This is Raspberry Pi 4B. It's really too much horsepower for a HotSpot / Repeater. Add in that it will create more heat and use more power, it's really not useful for a HotSpot / Repeater. Mobile use using more power is not what anyone wants. Save this more expensive SBC board for learning the Raspberry Pi OS.

PURCHASE AT: Let's NOT use them in our HotSpots / Repeaters
